Challenge Up Bulldogs!
You may or may not have heard my morning announcement regarding our #stripeoutyourschoolchallenge. We are excited to be part of the official #stripeoutyourschool challenge that will be taking place across Connecticut in schools on Friday, February 28th. We will once again wear stripes to bring awareness to Rare Disease Day. Mark Anastasio, one of our very own RLMS Bulldog Alum officially launched the challenge on his Tik Tok page which has six million followers. While he “challenged up” Joel Barlow High School in honor of Tyler Cummings; we were officially challenged up by Casey Cummings and our current student Nicole Anastasio. Their video is visible on the National Organization of Rare Disorders; Rare Disease Day page: https://rarediseases.org/rare-disease-day/ (scroll down the page).
We are also partnering up as well with Fairfield Ludlowe High School to promote the #stripeoutyourschool challenge to other schools. If you have a family member or friend that is an educator who’s school we should “Challenge Up”; please let us know.
Various groups of students, including our Student Leadership Club are planning to help make signs to post around the building. Additionally, and our yearbook staff has a page reserved once again for Rare Disease Day. While we recognize the Cummings’ family tragic loss of Ty-man; we also recognize our other staff members that have a family member with a rare disease, have a rare disease or has lost a love one to these diseases that often have no cures. Our RLMS community is once again encouraged to be on the front lines of this important cause and initiating the conversation of awareness to bring change along with hopes for a cure.
The Mural Club will begin meeting only on Thursdays after school.
